About Me

About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in both Maryland and Virginia, having earned my Master of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2009. I have completed a three-year clinical program in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) at Washington School of Psychiatry in May of 2021and another three-year core training program of ISTDP (2021-2023) at ISTDP Institute.  I am currently participating in on-going supervision with other ISTDP experts in the field and peer supervision to help with my on-going learning and growing as a therapist.

My treatment approach is active and focused, as we address your difficulties to help you resolve problematic patterns that may have caused suffering, both internally and in interpersonal relationships.  Together, we can bring about change in a reasonable timeframe as we work towards your goals.

Prior to establishing my own practice, I worked with adults, adolescents, children, families and groups at the Jewish Social Service Agency in Rockville.  I also served as an Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant for multiple Montgomery County child care centers, supporting parents and school staff on mental health issues in young children, with an emphasis on social and emotional development. I am a certified Child-Centered Play Therapist through the National Institute for Relationship Enhancement.

My background is varied, and I understand life transitions and challenges first-hand.  I was born in China and came to this country as an adolescent, having to adapt quickly to a different culture and language. I was the first in my family to go to college, receiving a degree in information technology which led to a career in information systems. Although rewarding, the technology field did not fulfill my interest in helping people and public service, so in 2005 I started the process of becoming a clinical social worker.

It is my hope and expectation that by drawing on my educational background, life experience, and continuing professional training, I will bring to our therapy relationship what is needed to help you reach your goals.

When I am not in my professional role, I love cooking, traveling, spending time with my family and hiking with our wonderful dogs.
